Containing over 30 historic buildings that were built between 1880 and 1900, the Pioneer Living History Village both preserves these historic residences and provides a place where families can explore the long-gone lifestyles of these frontier days. At the Blacksmith Shop, watch an expert smith hammer out nails and tour the sheriff's office, complete with a jail cell. See reenactments of gunfights that take place on the stage area known as "Tiny Town" and tour other historic buildings including a school, a dress shop and the still-functioning community church. The buildings contained within this village are spread far apart, so be prepared to walk and enjoy the sights. After a day spent exploring the grounds, have a meal at the next door restaurant before heading back to the city. The village is situated just a few miles north of the metro area, due east of Lake Pleasant.
