The Desert Botanical Garden's 50 acres of land house an extensive collection of desert plants, showcasing more than 130 rare plant families and over 21,000 total plants. A handful of short trails, running between 1/4 and 1/3 of a mile in length, pass through distinct garden areas like the Sonoran Desert Nature Trail, the Herb Garden and the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Trail. Special garden events, like art exhibitions and musical concerts, along with classes and programs for children and adults, offer a multitude of ways to learn about the desert and environmental conservation. Situated within Papago Park on the eastern end of Phoenix, the garden lies between the park's stunning red-shaded buttes near the Hall of Flame Fire Museum.
